How Much Does it Cost to Register a Trademark in Colombia?
In Colombia (during 2024), registering a trademark costs USD 322 (approximate official fees for an online application excluding professional fees).
The cost of registering a trademark is set annually by the Superintendent’s Office of Industry and Trade (SIC), an entity that establishes the applicable official rates on industrial property in Colombia.
Currently, the cost (official online rates) of an application for trademark registration in Colombia is as follows:
- Application for trademark registration (first or only class): USD 322 (approximately).
- Application for trademark registration (additional class in the same application): USD 161 (approximately).
Based on the foregoing, each class of products or services to be protected is subject to the payment of official fees to the Colombian Trademark Office. Therefore, the greater the protection, the greater the investment.
In addition, the applicant must consider the professional fees set by the law firm selected to file the trademark registration process, which will depend on the quality and experience of that firm in intellectual property law.
